Dr. Wells has deep roots in Atascadero, he is a native and completed all of his early education here. He is an Eagle Scout and he planned and built the local Heilman disc golf course in 2002. He received his Bachelors of Science in Nutrition with a minor in Biology from Cal Poly. He married his beautiful high school sweetheart, Sarah and then pursued his dream of being an optometrist. He graduated with honors from Western University of Health Sciences and was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Wells completed his education working alongside many prestigious doctors across the US. At the VA Hospital in Battle Creek Michigan, he was able to exalt his studies in the management of ocular disease with modern technology and cataract co-management. At Fort Belvoir, Army medical hospital in Virginia, Dr. Wells developed many skills in primary eye care, Lasik co-management and he had the honor of working with brain-injured soldiers in neurorehabilitation.
After returning to the most beautiful area in the world, Dr. Wells joined Optometric Care Associates and has been practicing full scope family optometry with an emphasis on nutrition and ocular disease. From 2016 until 2019 He was the eye doctor for the Atascadero State Hospital where he continued to expand his knowledge of diseases of the body that directly affect the visual system. He as well as the other doctors of Optometric Care Associates are heavily involved in completing the school vision screenings for the county. He is involved in his local and state professional society and currently holds a board position.
Dr. Wells lives in Atascadero with his wife Sarah, and Daughter, Sonora. On weekends, Dr. Wells enjoys working around the house, camping with his family, and as a private pilot, he enjoys flying whenever he gets a chance!
